Meet Your Grief Coach

My name is Heather, and before I ever became a Grief Coach, I was a woman who believed deeply in preparedness. Preparing food, stewarding a home, and building stability for my family were and are a huge part of who I am.

Today I am a 52 year old mother of 6 children: 5 sons and 1 daughter, ages 30, 28, 26, 22, 13 and 10. I am a new wife and a fur-mama to a dog, 5 cats and a flock of chickens and turkeys.

I love to cook, bake bread, preserve food through canning and dehydrating. I love to garden and have found a new joy in adult coloring.

For nearly two decades, I have shared my life and encouraged others how to plan, preserve, and create security in uncertain times via social media.

But in 2021 life handed me a loss I could have never “prepared” for.

On February 13, 2021, my family was driving home from a Valentine’s dinner. Our vehicle was struck head-on by a drunk driver, killing my husband Matt (48 years old), critically injuring me and seriously injuring our two youngest children who were ages 8 and 5 at the time.

Widowhood shattered the future I thought I was building. It stripped life down to its most fragile and honest pieces. I discovered quickly that you can be prepared on paper, and still have your life completely fractured.

In that season I learned something sacred: grief does not mean failure. It means that love had weight.

God met me in the unprepared places – in the quiet, in the breaking, in the moments when survival felt heavier than hope. And instead of calling me to retreat, He called me to rebuild.

Not quickly. Not perfectly. But with deeper roots, steadier hands, and a new calling on my life.

That calling became Kneading To Heal.

Training & Certification

I received my Certification in Grief Coaching from Blythe Landry and the Grief to Purpose Program.

I am trained to walk alongside individuals navigating loss with compassion, structure, and emotional safety.

My training included:

  • Ethical grief support
  • Trauma-informed training
  • Boundaries between coaching and clinical therapy
  • Guided reflection, emotional regulation, and forward movement.

Grief coaching is not the same as therapy and I am not a licensed therapist. I work within clear professional boundaries and will not hesitate to encourage clients to seek or continue therapy when appropriate.

Grief coaching is not about fixing pain… it’s about learning how to live with it in a way that no longer controls or defines you.

My Approach to Grief Coaching

My approach is gentle, grounded, and faith-anchored.

I believe grief does not need to be rushed, minimized, or “gotten over.” It needs to be acknowledged, honored, and integrated into life that can still hold meaning.

What You Can Expect

In our work together, you can expect:

  • A calm, steady presence
  • Structured sessions that feel safe and not overwhelming
  • Space to tell your story without being trapped in it or judged for it
  • Practical tools to help regulate emotions and rebuild daily rhythms
  • Faith-based support rooted in Scripture

I do not believe in forcing closure. I believe in helping you find your footing again with purpose.

If you are here, chances are you didn’t choose this road. But you don’t have to walk it alone.

Grief changes us, but it doesn’t have to consume us. Healing doesn’t mean forgetting. It means learning how to live fully again, carrying love forward with intention and grace.

I would be honored to walk with you.
